ARTIST STATEMENT
My art is an amplification of myself. Being soft-spoken and reserved in person, art has become my voice and vehicle for expression. The personality of my work reflects an inner strength and confidence which is not so easily seen from the outside.
In my work, I use collections of images and elements that metaphorically express emotions, memories or complex ideas. In some cases, my work has a conscious symbolic meaning, other times it’s an unconscious expression. Creating art usually results in a discovery for me. Through my creations, I am able to answer questions, sort out dilemmas, revisit experiences, express opinions or make plans for the future.
Through mixed media, I am able to combine my love of many art mediums and materials including collage, drawing, painting, writing, and photography. With my art, I am able to layer fragments of my myself and my life to express who I am and relate my experience with the world around me.
